I believe, as many do, that the way to a connected mind, body and spirit is to take time out to slow down and develop an appreciation in the beauty and wonder of our own body.  My vision is to help women of all ages create an awareness and love for their body while achieving a peace of mind in a non-judgmental, nurturing and loving environment. Everyone deserves the right to feel good – inside and out!

Robin gains self empowerment by helping to support and encourage woman in celebrating their unique femininity through yoga, ceremony, dance and internal awareness. She is a Certified Yoga Instructor, Kid’s Yoga Teacher, Bellyfit Instructor and Reiki Level II Practitioner. It has been said by many that her loving and nurturing spirit helps the women around her find their sense of self healing nature and zest for life within.

Me in a Nutshell

In my mid 20′s I was drawn to the philosophy of Yoga and began a solo practice that I would perform in the light of dawn in the spare bedroom of the first apartment I shared with my (then) new husband Chris.  In more recent years I have been an avid student of the incredibly inspirational Padma, creator of Living Yoga with Padma television program out of Vancouver, BC (once I was lucky enough to meet her in person during my yoga training, talk about surreal!) and participated in various classes in and around Edmonton, Alberta.

Upon a new life direction and in search of a more holistic lifestyle, our family chose to relocate to Vancouver Island in 2006. Prior to moving I was blessed to be guided to Lilian Bianchi of Namaste Yoga in Duncan, BC and discovered that she was soon offering her first Yoga Teacher Training program. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Shortly after the big move, our wonderful group of yoginis began to meet one weekend a month and to explore the topics of the history and origins of yoga, basic anatomy, the value of breath and meditation as well as the principles of asanas (physical postures of yoga).

After practicing yoga for many many years, I felt that becoming a yoga instructor was naturally the next level to deepen my own personal practice.  I feel honored to have been given the opportunity to share the teachings and knowledge from my teachers and their teachers before them to the wonderful yoga enthusiasts that have entered my life. With Lilian’s beautiful and gentle nature leading me through my ever deepening yoga journey, I quickly reevaluated my own personal practice to discover that in contrary to a lot of the yoga hype today (not all – but a lot), Yoga is not only about postures and getting in shape, but rather it’s an all ecompassing philosophy to achieving a higher awareness, a healthier sense of self and a more balanced connection.

In February 2008 I travelled across the inlet to the mainland of Vancouver, BC to achieve Kid’s Yoga Teacher Training certification with Maalaa from the Yoga Tree. Maalaa has a unique style which makes even the most adult of adults feel the wonderful enthusiasm of being a child once again. I am proud to say that since I have used this experience not only to guide my little yogi Carter, but to also start a weekly class in Cherry Point. It’s amazing how working with children renews the zest and wonder of life (oh and did I mention build upon one’s patience? ;) ).

In April 2008 I once again travelled not so far from my new homestead to Victoria, BC where I took part in Bellyfit certification with Alice Bracegirdle. Bellyfit is a unique collection of cultural dance styles brought together for a great workout with lots of smiles and fun. I hope to use it more one day!

And finally the latest pursuit is using my experience in Oriental Dance to guide young ladies to love and honor their bodies through the art of movement. With guidance from my wonderful senior teacher Lynene Allen from Danse Oriental, I aspire to be as great as a teacher as her one day!

Thank you for reading all about me! And of course I am always open and receptive of any comments or questions that you may have. Please feel free to email me at any time.
